Biography
Rachel Thomas is a highly respected former derivatives market maker with more than two decades of experience on London’s trading floors. Rising from a runner on LIFFE to co-founder and senior market maker at Financial Market Engineering Ltd, she played a central role in building trading models that provided liquidity across global exchanges.
Known for her sharp market intuition and leadership, Rachel has trained junior and graduate traders, led high-performance teams, and contributed to some of the most active derivatives markets in the world.
After her career in London, Rachel founded a design-led start-up with an international footprint, overseeing production in Taiwan and leading events and brand partnerships across London, Los Angeles, New York, Berlin, and the Netherlands. Her work outside finance reflects the same energy and creativity she brought to the trading floor—combining strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
Alongside her professional roles, Rachel has dedicated significant time to community and mentoring initiatives. She has volunteered with schools and charities on wellbeing, confidence, and life-skills programs, served as a peer mentor with Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, and supported PSHE classroom projects that help young people navigate change and build self-belief.
